HOW YOU CAN HELP

LOCAL COMMUNITY ACTION
- HAPPENING NOW -
We are now staying with the tree 24 hours a day. After an attempt to cordon off the tree in order to take it down with out warning or public notice.
We need bodies and people at the tree. Whether its an hour or a day you can spend your support is incredibly valuable.
We need help handing out flyers, supporting those who are at the tree with water and company and many other things. You can help and we need people so please get in touch.
Our email is: tree@thehappymantree.org

SIGN AND SHARE THE PETITION
We have had an amazing response from people singing the petition. We now have nearly 25,000 signatures. This has happened fast as people learn there is no need to cut this tree down. Please sign the petition.
Please also share the petition on your social channels and hashtag #thehappymantree and #noticethistree.

COME TO THE TREE
Every day we meet at the tree. Its a tree worth visiting, vast, beautiful and full of life.
We hand out flyers and show our presence to the tree and to Berkeley Homes and to Hackney Council and inform people of what is happening.
The tree is situated next to the site of the now demolished Happy Man Pub. It was a great local pub. You can find the tree on this google map by clicking the link here.
Kids have tied paintings of the tree by the tree, others have looked up at the tree, others have drawn around their shadow on the floor as they have looked up at the tree and all its beauty. Go visit and if you want to know when we will be there tomorrow, get in touch.

LEGAL ACTION TO SAVE THE TREE
Thanks to many very generous donations we have now raised over £8,700 to fund legal action to save the Happy Man Tree.
On 26 June, legal action was started against us and an application for an injunction against us was granted to Hackney Council and Berkeley Homes in the High Court. People from the local community who are maintaining a presence at the Happy Man Tree day and night have been threatened with heavy penalties.
However, we are now pursuing our own legal action. Read more.

CONTACT HACKNEY COUNCIL WITH YOUR VIEWS ON THE HAPPY MAN TREE
The future of the Happy Man Tree will be decided at a Hackney Council planning meeting on 9 September 2020.
Local residents and members of the community now have a chance to send comments about the Happy Man Tree to the Planning Committee.
